New York holiday packages for Indian travellers, covering Broadway, Central Park, the Met, Fifth Avenue shopping and the Brooklyn Bridge across all five boroughs.
Getting to New York from India
Direct and one-stop flights from Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore connect to JFK, Newark (EWR) and LaGuardia (LGA). Flight time is approximately 14–16 hours. Air India operates direct routes; Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways offer well-priced one-stop connections via their Gulf hubs. Book at least three months ahead for the best fares, especially for school holiday travel.
Getting Around New York City
The New York City subway covers all five boroughs and runs around the clock. A MetroCard or OMNY tap-to-pay card costs USD 2.90 per ride. Yellow cabs and rideshare apps are widely available but can be expensive in traffic. For the Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge walk and High Line park, your best option is simply walking – Manhattan is far more navigable on foot than it appears on a map.
New York for Indian Travellers
Jackson Heights in Queens is one of the largest South Asian communities in North America, with Indian grocery stores, Bollywood cinemas and a wide range of vegetarian and regional Indian restaurants. Diwali on Fifth Avenue, held every October, draws tens of thousands. Manhattan also has strong Indian restaurant presence in Midtown and the East Village. Most dietary requirements are easily accommodated.
Visa and Entry Requirements
Indian passport holders require a B1/B2 US Tourist Visa. The application involves completing form DS-160 online, paying the visa fee and attending an in-person interview at the US consulate. Processing times vary seasonally – apply at least three to four months before travel. A valid visa allows multiple entries within its validity period. DreamSetGo can advise on documentation but visa applications are submitted directly to the consulate.

Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Statue of Liberty each offer something entirely different – here is how to make the most of New York.

Times Square pulses 24 hours a day. Central Park offers 843 acres of green calm in the middle of the world's most intense urban grid. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, and the High Line represent culture at its most ambitious. Manhattan alone can occupy 5 nights of wonder.

Cross the Brooklyn Bridge on foot for one of New York's great experiences, then explore DUMBO's cobblestone streets, Brooklyn's artisan food markets, and Prospect Park. Brooklyn has grown into a destination in its own right, beloved by Indian visitors who appreciate authenticity over tourist gloss.

No New York trip is complete without seeing the Statue of Liberty up close. The ferry from Battery Park takes you to Liberty Island and Ellis Island, where the immigration museum tells the story of America's founding waves of migrants – a moving experience that resonates deeply with Indian visitors.
Five to seven days gives you a solid introduction to Manhattan's highlights and time to explore Brooklyn. If you want to catch a Broadway show, visit multiple museums, and take a day trip to Woodbury Common or Washington DC, allow 8–10 days.
Midtown Manhattan (around Times Square and Central Park) offers the most convenient location for first-time visitors, with easy subway access to all major attractions. Chelsea and the Upper West Side are excellent options for a more residential, less tourist-heavy feel.
New York is one of the safer large cities in the USA. Standard city-travel precautions apply: be aware of your surroundings in crowded areas, keep valuables secure, and avoid deserted streets late at night. The subway is generally safe and the most cost-effective way to get around.
September and October offer the most pleasant weather – cool, sunny days and autumn foliage in Central Park. Spring (April–June) is also beautiful. December shines for the Christmas atmosphere, Rockefeller Center ice rink, and holiday window displays, but it is cold and crowded.
Yes, it is a popular combination. Amtrak's Acela express connects New York Penn Station to Washington DC Union Station in about 2.5–3 hours. We typically recommend 5 nights in New York followed by 3 nights in Washington DC for a well-rounded East Coast itinerary.
